Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. At 340 pounds, I am stepping into this fast with a clear goal: to reach 209 pounds. That’s a number that represents freedom, health, and the version of myself I’ve always been capable of becoming.
But before I dive into the details of this journey, I want to pause and give thanks to the younger me. That version of myself, though flawed, did the best he could with what he knew. He faced challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt, yet he brought me to this point where change is not just possible—it’s inevitable.
I refuse to get hung up on shame or guilt. Those feelings are unnecessary weights I don’t need to carry anymore. There’s no benefit in lamenting the past when the future is mine to shape. The truth is, my potential hasn’t gone anywhere—it’s still within me, waiting to be unlocked.
Keeping It Simple
This journey isn’t about overcomplicating things; it’s about consistency. Success lies in understanding the basics and sticking to them. To reach my goal, I need to create a state where my body transitions from burning glycogen (stored energy) to burning fat as its primary fuel source.
The first step is to deplete my glycogen stores, which typically takes about 2–3 days of fasting for most people. This is Phase 1: Glycogen Depletion. During this phase, I will stay hydrated, stay busy, and remain focused on my goal. Once my glycogen is gone, my body will turn to fat for energy. That’s when the real work begins: sustaining that fat-burning state and riding the momentum forward.
Momentum is key. It’s the little spark that ignites a raging fire. For me, that momentum comes from the first three days—pushing through the initial discomfort and getting my body into a fat-burning mode. Every hour I stay consistent adds fuel to that fire.
The Power of Momentum
Momentum doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from taking the first step. And then the next. I’m not focused on the scale today or tomorrow—I’m focused on showing up. Fasting isn’t just about weight loss; it’s about discipline, resilience, and proving to myself that I can follow through.
This journey isn’t about deprivation. It’s about transformation. Every hour I fast is a step closer to becoming the version of me that I know I can be—the version that moves with confidence, embraces life fully, and lives with purpose.
To anyone reading this who feels like they’ve fallen too far, let me remind you: It’s never too late. You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. You just need to take the first step, and then keep taking it.
Motivation to Keep Going
Right now, I am building momentum. One step. One hour. One day at a time. My body is already beginning to adapt. Every moment I stay committed is a moment closer to my goals.
To my future self, the one at 209: I’m coming for you. Every effort I make today is a gift to you. And to anyone on their own journey: You can do this. Keep it simple, stay consistent, and trust the process.
Today is the first step toward everything you’ve ever wanted. Let’s make it count
